DELTA BETA CHI

Delta Beta Chi was founded in Annapolis Hall in the Fall of 1981 at Frostburg State College. This so-called “fraternity” was put forth as a joke, entering under the name Delta Tau Chi (same as in the movie Animal House) to the administration for chartering. The administration promptly said no to their plea. This caused a stir within these joke-laden members, so they decided to start a real fraternity. They began seeking a charter under the name Delta Beta Chi. This plea was graciously accepted, and on March 9, 1982, their chapter was complete. There were 11 founding fathers. This was by no means the end of this chapter in Delta Beta Chi history. The little sisters of Delta Beta Chi were added (later to become Delta Delta, then Phi Sigma Sigma, and then Delta Delta once again returning to their roots). In 1990, the campus administration forced upon us the need to have a national affiliation under which we became the Epsilon Septation chapter of Phi Sigma Kappa. Five short years later, we unanimously decided to drop our national affiliation and return to the always strong traditions of Delta Beta Chi. In september of 2001 Delta Beta Chi celebrated its 20 year anniversary.
